Reflexive Verbs

 

a) Reflexive verbs are verbs in which the action reflects back to the subject. That is, the subject and object are the same.

to wash (oneself)

wash myself, to (for) myself

wash yourself, to (for) yourself

nosotros

nos lavamos

wash ourselves, to (for) ourselves

se lava

yourself, yourselves

themselves

b)  The pronoun "se" at the end of an infinitive indicates that the verb is reflexive.

 

c) The reflexive pronouns are placed in the sentence in front of a verb and can follow and be attached to an infinitive or present participle.

Examples    
  Yo me levanto temprano.  
  Yo voy a levantarme temprano.  
  Yo estoy levantandome temprano.
