Lesson 8

PISCINA HOTEL FRENTE AL MAR

(As planned John, Michael, Mary and Cindy arrived in Cancun on Monday.  This is their second day at this place.  They are enjoying the beautiful beaches of white sand and the turquoise waters.  It’s a beautiful day and this is the perfect place for relaxing and forgetting about any worries.)

(Tal como estaba planeado,  John, Michael, Mary y Cindy llegaron a  Cancún el lunes.  Este es su segundo día en este lugar.  Están disfrutando aún de las bellas playas de arena blanca y de las aguas turquesas.   Es un día lindo y el lugar es perfecto para relajarse y olvidarse de cualquier preocupación.)

Cindy: Listen Michael, we have to thank you that we are here at this place.  If you had not been sick we would have never found that travel agency.

Cindy : Oye Michael, tenemos que agradecerte el estar aquí en este lugar.  Si no te hubieras enfermado, nunca habríamos encontrado esa agencia de viajes.

Michael:  That’s right, Cindy.  The bad things that happen sometimes bring good things with them.  Look what a great time we are having.

Michael: Así es, Cindy.  Las cosas malas que suceden a veces traen cosa buenas  consigo.  Miren qué bien la estamos pasando.

John: This place has everything that a traveler wants to see.  There are shops for Cindy and Mary, there are art galleries for Michael, restaurants for Mary and there are even excursions to the Mayan ruins.  Too bad that we cannot stay any longer.

John: Este lugar tiene todo lo que un viajero desea ver.  Hay tiendas para Cindy y Mary, hay galerías de arte para Michael,  restaurantes para Mary y hasta excursiones a las ruinas mayas.  Lástima que no nos podemos quedar más tiempo.  

Mary:  Yes, but we can always plan another trip.  I would like to travel around Central America.  I’ve heard that Guatemala is a paradise.  And as you know, John there we can visit the ancient Mayan ruins of Tikal.  Do you remember the film Star Wars? This film shows Tikal.

Mary:  Sí, pero siempre podemos planear otro viaje.  Me gustaría viajar por Centro América.  Dicen que Guatemala es un paraíso.  Y como tú sabes, John, allí podemos visitar las antiguas ruinas mayas de Tikal.  Se acuerdan ustedes de la película Star Wars?  En esa película sale Tikal. 

John:  I didn’t see that film because I don’t like going to the movies but I would love to visit those ruins.  We can travel around Central America and then we can move on to South America.  As soon as we get to the United States we have to start planning our next trip.   We have to start saving again though, but it is worth it.

John: Yo no vi esa película porque no me gusta ir al cine, pero me encantaría visitar esas ruinas.    Podemos ir a Centro América y luego pasamos  a Sur América.   Tan pronto como lleguemos a Estados Unidos tenemos que  empezar a planear nuestro próximo viaje.   Eso sí, tenemos que empezar a ahorrar de nuevo, pero la verdad es que vale la pena.

Cindy:  Of course it is worth it!  I’ll start making the arrangements for our next trip and I think it would be very good for us to continue with our Spanish lessons.   The courses we have taken so far have helped us so much! Ok, but what do you say if we go and swim a little bit now that there is not that much sun?  John, you are like a fish in water, we want to see you swim.

Cindy: Claro que vale la pena!  Empezaré a hacer los arreglos para nuestro próximo viaje y yo creo que sería muy bueno para nosotros continuar con nuestras clases de espaňol.  Los cursos que hemos tomado hasta ahora nos han ayudado tanto! Bueno, pero qué dicen si vamos a nadar un poco ahora que no hay tanto sol?  John, tú que eres un pez en el agua, te queremos ver nadar .

John:  Of course.  Just let me put some tanning lotion on my face and let’s go all swimming….

John: Claro que sí.  Sólo déjame ponerme un poco de crema bronceadora en la cara y vamos todos a nadar…

(John, Mary, Michael and Cindy spend the rest of their vacation time very happy.  At last, each one of them gets to visit the places of their own interest.  They get to know more people and make new friendships.  On their way back to the United States, while John, Michael and Cindy are sleeping because they are very tired, Mary is writing in her diary the things that she most liked and all the recipes that she learned.

(John, Mary, Michael y Cindy pasan el resto de sus vacaciones muy felices.  Por fin, cada uno de ellos logra visitar los lugares de su propio interés.  Conocen otras personas y hacen nuevas amistades.  En el viaje de regreso a Estados Unidos, mientras John, Michael y Cindy duermen porque están muy cansados, Mary va escribiendo en su diario lo que más le gustó del viaje y todas las recetas que aprendió.
