PACIENTE ENTRANDO MRI  

(Resonancia Magnética)

(José, the receptionist, calls the ambulance, which arrives 5 minutes later.  All of them get into the ambulance to accompany Michael.  Finally they get to the emergency room of the hospital)

Nurse:  Good morning.  Do you all come with the patient?  Are you his relatives?

(José, el recepcionista, llama la ambulancia, la cual llega después de 5 minutos. Todos se suben en la ambulancia para acompaňar a Michael.  Finalmente llegan a la sala de emergencia del  hospital)

Enfermera:  Buenos días.  Todos ustedes vienen con el paciente?  Son ustedes familiares de él?

Cindy: Yes, we all come with him.  We are not his relatives but he is our friend.  He doesn’t have any relatives here in Mexico.  We are tourists.

Cindy : Sí, todos venimos con él.  No somos familiares pero él es nuestro amigo.  El no tiene familiares aquí en Méjico.  Somos turistas.

Nurse:  Well, I’m sorry but only one of you can keep the patient company. The rest of you must stay here, please.  You can help me by giving me some information on the patient while the doctors check him.

Enfermera: Bueno, lo siento mucho pero sólo uno de ustedes puede acompaňar al paciente.  Los demás se quedan aquí porfavor.  Me pueden ayudar dándome información sobre el paciente mientras los doctores lo examinan.

John: I’ll be with Michael, girls.  Please help the nurse.

John: Yo acompaňo a Michael, muchachas.  Por favor ayuden a la seňorita enfermera.

Doctor: Good morning.  I am Doctor Mendoza.  What’s your name?  What’s wrong with you?

Doctor:  Buenos días.  Soy el doctor Mendoza. Cuál es su nombre?  Y cuénteme qué le está pasando?

Michael:  My name is Michael.  I don’t know what’s wrong with me.  The only thing I can tell you is that I feel very sick.  I have a headache that is too strong.  I feel dizzy and today when I woke up, I lost my balance and almost fainted.  I couldn’t stand up by myself.  Fortunately, my friend got to help me and brought me to the hospital.

Michael:  Mi nombre es Michael.  No sé qué me pasa.  Lo único que le puedo decir es que me siento muy mal.  Tengo un dolor de cabeza demasiado fuerte.  Siento mareos y hoy que me levanté, perdí el equilibrio y casi me desmayo.  No pude levantarme sólo.  Afortunadamente llegó mi amigo a ayudarme y me trajo aquí al hospital.

Doctor: Ok, don’t worry.  We’re going to do a complete check-up, including lab tests and we will see what we can do for you.  Meanwhile we are going to give you a shot to get rid of that headache.  You’ll see that soon you will be feeling better.

Doctor: Bueno, no se preocupe.  Le vamos a hacer un examen completo, incluyendo exámenes de laboratorio, y veremos qué podemos hacer por usted. Mientras tanto le vamos a poner una inyección para eliminar ese dolor de cabeza.  Ya verá que pronto se sentirá mejor.

(After the tests are over)

Doctor:   How are you doing, Michael?  Do you feel better?  Has the shot helped you?

(Después de terminados los exámenes)

Doctor: Cómo se siente, Michael?  Se siente un poco mejor? Le ha ayudado la inyección?

Michael:  A little bit.  I don’t feel dizzy anymore but the headache is still too strong.

Michael:  Un poco.  Ya no siento mareos, pero el dolor de cabeza aún es demasiado fuerte.

Doctor: Ok, then you will have to stay at the hospital today because I don’t like that headache.  You don’t have any fever and your blood pressure is normal but we will have to do more tests, probably some X rays or an MRI.

Doctor: Bueno. Entonces va a tener que quedarse hospitalizado por hoy, porque ese dolor de cabeza no me gusta.  No tiene fiebre y su presión está normal, pero tendremos que hacerle más exámenes, probablemente unos rayos X o una resonancia magnética.

John:  Doctor, do you think it’s something serious?

John:  Doctor, usted cree que es algo grave?

Doctor: Unfortunately I cannot tell you anything until I see the tests results.  Besides it is better for him to stay at the hospital just in case.  The nurse, Anita, will take you to the room.  Your friend has to rest very much.  The shot for the headache makes you sleepy.

John:  Thank you, doctor.  We’ll see you later.

Doctor: Lamentablemente no le puedo decir nada hasta no ver los resultados de los exámenes.  Además, es mejor que se quede hospitalizado por cualquier cosa.  La enfermera, Anita, los va a llevar a la habitación.  Su amigo debe descansar mucho.  La inyección contra el dolor de cabeza da mucho sueňo.

John:  Muchas gracias, doctor.  Lo vemos más tarde.

Anita (the nurse):  You can all go to the room for a while.  No food or flowers are allowed in the rooms.  Visit hours are from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m.  Michael, if you need anything, please let me know.  You just press this button and I’ll be here right away with you.  I’ll come later and take you to your tests.  Please try to rest and sleep for a while.

Anita (la enfermera): Pueden pasar todos a la habitación un momento. No se permite comida ni flores en las habitaciones.  La hora de visita es de 2:00 a 6:00 de la tarde.  Michael, si necesita cualquier cosa, por favor me avisa.  Usted sólo oprime  este botón y en seguida estoy aquí con usted.  Más tarde regreso para llevarlo a hacerle sus exámenes.  Por favor trate de descansar y dormir un rato. 

John:  Well, girls, I think that the best thing to do is to let Michael rest.  Let’s go.

John: Bueno, muchachas yo creo que lo mejor es que dejemos que Michael descanse.  Vamos. 

Cindy: Yes, that’s the best thing to do.  Michael, see you later.  I hope you get better.

Cindy: Sí, es lo mejor.  Michael, nos vemos más tarde.  Espero que sigas mejor.

Mary: See you later, Michael.  Get better.

Mary:  Hasta pronto, Michael.  Que sigas mejor.
