(After
hanging up the phone, Cindy goes out of her room and takes
the lift to meet John and Michael at the hotel’s lobby.
Outside there is a tourist bus waiting for them that
will take them on a city tour.
John, Michael and Cindy get into the bus.
In the
bus there are other tourists from different nationalities
and there is also a tourist guide to show them the places
of main interest. The
bus starts its route and is heading to the famous Centro
Histórico Historic Center)
of Mexico city.

(Después de colgar
el teléfono, Cindy sale de su habitación y toma el
ascensor para reunirse con John y Michael en el lobby del
hotel. Afuera
los está esperando un bus de turismo que los llevará a un
tour por la ciudad. John,
Michael y Cindy se suben al bus.
En el bus van otros
turistas de diferentes nacionalidades y también va una guía
turística para mostrarles los lugares de mayor interés.
El bus empieza su recorrido y se dirige hacia el
famoso Centro Histórico de la ciudad de Méjico.

guide: Good
morning, everybody. My
name is Claudia. I
am your tourist guide and I am here to help you answer any
question that you might have.

Mi nombre es Claudia.
Yo soy su guía turística y estoy a la orden para
cualquier pregunta que tengan.

I’m interested in knowing something.
Do you know what the word Mexico means?

John:
Disculpe, Claudia.
Hay algo que me interesa saber.
Usted sabe qué es lo que significa la palabra “Méjico”?.

Claudia:
Sure. The
word “Mexico” means “Place or country in the center
of the moon”.
Well, we
have arrived to what is known as the Zócalo.
Here, we will park the bus for a while so that you
can take photographs and see from near the different
buildings .

Claudia: Claro que
sí.
La palabra “Méjico” significa “Lugar o país
en el centro de la luna”.
Muy
bien, hemos
llegado a lo que se conoce como el Zócalo.
Aquí estacionaremos el bus un momento para que
ustedes puedan tomar fotos y ver de cerca los diferentes edificios.

Overall, all the cities from the time of the Spanish
Colony are distributed in the same way and Mexico city is
not the exception.

John:
En general, todas las ciudades del tiempo de la
Colonia espaňola están distribuidas de la misma forma
y la ciudad de Méjico no es la excepción.

Michael:
Hey John, it’s clear that you really learnt something at
the university and now you are putting it into practice.
How lucky we are that you came with us.

Michael: Hey, John, se nota que realmente aprendiste
algo en la universidad y ahora lo estás poniendo en práctica. Qué suerte tenemos que

John, can you explain us in more detail that distribution
from the Colony that you are referring to?

Cindy: John, nos puedes explicar con más detalle
esa distribución colonial a la que tú te refieres?

course, Cindy, under the sole
condition that you invite me to eat something (ha,
ha, ha). As
you can see, at the north is the cathedral.
This is a very important building since the Spanish
people were very catholic and during the times of the
Colony many catholic priests came here to convert the
natives of this country to the Catholicism.
At the South is the Municipality.
At the East is the National Palace and at the West
are other commercial buildings.

John:
Claro que sí, Cindy, con la única condición de
que me invites a comer algo. (ja,ja,ja). Como
ustedes pueden ver, al norte está la catedral.
Este es
un edificio muy importante ya que los espaňoles eran
muy católicos y durante el tiempo de la colonia vinieron
muchos sacerdotes católicos a convertir los nativos de
este país al catolicismo.
Al sur está la municipalidad.
Al este el palacio nacional y al oeste otros
edificios comerciales.

Listen, don’t you smell food?

Michael: Oigan, no sienten ustedes un olor a comida?

Yes, I think that smell comes from that cart where
the man with a green apron is.
John:
I am getting hungry.
Let’s go and eat something. I am also very thirsty
because it is so hot.

Cindy: Sí, creo
que ese olor viene de aquella carreta donde está un seňor
con delantal verde.
John:
A mí ya me dio hambre. Vamos a comer algo. También tengo mucha sed por el calor que
está haciendo.
